Keng Tung is known for its scenic beauty and numerous colorful ethnic tribes. Situated in the eastern Shan state Keng Tung is about an hour flight from Heho, and by land 452 km from Inle Lake, though at the moment land travel is not permitted. There are a lot of villages of ethnic tribes residing around Keng Tung. One can see the tribes such as Gon, Lwe, Li, Wa, Lah Hu, Palaung, and Akha with colorful dresses, each different from one another. You can observe their tribal dances and their way of living on these mountainous regions around Kyaing Tong. Places of interest around Kyaingtong are, the Spa, Naung Tong Lake, Sunn Taung Monastery, Central market and Traditional Lacquer ware works and weaving factory.

A great trekking destination, though we recommend that you plan your visit during the cooler season.
